PHOTOS: DinoLand’s Iconic Cementosaurus Has Been Demolished at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
On January 12, 2025, the countdown to extinction struck zero for Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama when the carnival officially closed to facilitate the construction of Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s new Tropical Americas land.
Since then, we have watched the deconstruction of Chester and Hester’s take place in real time. First, we saw construction walls and planters arrive, then TriceraTop Spin was disassembled, finally, the fan-favorite entrance sign was removed.

Now, it is my unfortunate duty to report that another one of Chester and Hester’s iconic landmarks has been demolished.
The Cementosaurus Has Gone Extinct
The Cementosaurus, which for decades has smiled down on guests visiting DinoLand, U.S.A., has officially gone extinct.
When visiting the former site of Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama, we quickly noticed that the Cementosaurus was gone.
As you can see, very few of the Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama landmarks remain.
A couple of the Diggs County billboards are still vertical, and Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures (which will be repurposed in Tropical Americas) is still standing.
Based on what we could see, it looks like Disney has begun clearing land behind Dinorama.
This area will also be used for Tropical Americas.
Tropical Americas Is Coming
As Disney laid out in a DinoLand update yesterday, the construction of Tropical Americas is underway.

Known as Pueblo Esperanza, the new 11-acre land will be sprawling and lush. When complete, the land will include an Encanto attraction, an Indiana Jones attraction, and a large quick-service restaurant (guess where that is going).
Finally, the area will be completed by a large fountain in the center and a giant working carousel featuring some of Disney’s most-iconic furry friends.

Tropical Americas will open in 2027.
