Walt Disney World Wait Times for End of February 2025
Walt Disney World fundamentally changed last week. Two of the most popular attractions stopped using virtual queues.

Standby Line at Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Now, guests will stand in line for these attractions just as they would anything else at the parks.
The result is that the crowds have organically altered their theme park tendencies.

We’ll discuss the early changes in this week’s edition of Walt Disney World Wait Times.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Notably, two of the four theme parks didn’t change anything this week. So, they’re a bit easier to discuss.
At Animal Kingdom, something will be different in a couple of weeks when It’s Tough to Be a Bug! closes permanently.

This will happen soon after the shutdown of TriceraTop Spin, which construction crews have already demolished.
In other words, Animal Kingdom began the 2025 overhaul of Walt Disney World. It’s just not the story this week.

So, here are the park’s average wait times for this past week:
- Avatar Flight of Passage – 70 minutes, down 19
- Na’vi River Journey – 59 minutes, down 11
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 41 minutes, down 27
- Expedition Everest – 36 minutes, down 8
- Adventurers Outpost – 35 minutes, down 3
- DINOSAUR – 24 minutes, down 18
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 14 minutes, down 2

Overall, Animal Kingdom attractions averaged a wait of 40 minutes, which is 12 (!) minutes less than last time.
As a reminder, the previous week had been weirdly busy at Animal Kingdom.

Still, this week’s total is below average for this time of year.
We’ll track whether it was park-specific or a Disney World trend in the rest of the wait times.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney
This park will also undergo a fundamental change in a few months.
Muppet*Vision 3D will close, and Disney will repurpose Muppets Courtyard into Monstropolis.

Disney
At some point, Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith will switch to a Muppets theme.
That could happen as soon as this year. All four Disney World theme parks are currently undergoing massive change.
But Hollywood Studios also isn’t the big story this week. Here are the park’s average wait times last week:
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – 80 minutes, down 3
- Slinky Dog Dash – 70 minutes, down 22
- Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 57 minutes, no change
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – 55 minutes, down 17
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 54 minutes, down 8
- Toy Story Mania! – 51 minutes, down 6
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 45 minutes, down 11
- Red Carpet Dreams – 39 minutes, down 33
- Alien Swirling Saucers – 36 minutes, down 5
- Celebrity Spotlight – 20 minutes, down 1
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue! – 20 minutes, down 4
- Muppet*Vision 3D – 10 minutes, no change

Overall, the average Hollywood Studios attraction required a wait of 41 minutes, which is five minutes less than last time.
So, the question becomes whether these two parks were down or the entirety of Disney World was.
EPCOT
Finally, we’ve reached the park that IS the big story of the week.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind switched to a standby queue on Tuesday.
I don’t want to overstate the matter, but it really does change everything at the park.
As I type this on Sunday, I’m watching a ResortTV1 livestream where they’re currently waiting in line for the roller coaster.
The indoor part of the standby queue takes about an hour, signaling that if you’re waiting outside, it’ll take even longer.

Disney has added outdoor shade as a concession to this change, understanding that the crowds will often go outside the door.
For those who have visited the area, it’ll look quite a bit different due to these new exterior standby rows and umbrellas.
Indoors, the wait shares coloristic similarities with The Seas with Nemo & Friends in that everything is predominantly blue.
The whizbang special effects will remind you that you’re interacting with an alien culture at the Wonders of Xandar pavilion.

This experience is marvelous, and it definitely draws attention.
So, Cosmic Rewind undeniably becomes EPCOT’s alpha attraction as far as standby queues.
How did this change impact wait times? Let’s find out.

As a reminder, the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts just closed. So, the park is between festivals until Wednesday.

That’s when the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival begins.
I wrote this about three weeks ago, and it was published the other day.

Inside Cosmic Rewind
Due to circumstances beyond my control – LIKE DISNEY CHANGING COSMIC REWIND!!! – it’s already outdated.
I apologize for that. I promise to post something this week about the new crowd behavior, which I’m monitoring carefully.
For now, what I’ll say with confidence is that this is probably the new order for the park’s big three.
While I love Ratatouille, it was never intended to be the park’s top attraction for an extended period.
That behavior primarily occurred due to the gatekeeping of Cosmic Rewind via virtual queue.
The attractions opened about seven months apart, and everyone at Disney always expected Cosmic Rewind to be more popular.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
So, after three years, we’re finally witnessing the permanent park behavior at EPCOT, with Cosmic Rewind ruling everything.
PS: Josh at ResortTV1 timed his wait at 73 minutes on Sunday afternoon.
Magic Kingdom

Final Thoughts

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Overall, guests at Magic Kingdom excitedly hopped on the train and rode to Frontierland.
Then, they wanted an hour for Tiana, which was NOT the most popular ride at the park…or even the second-most-popular.

Photo: Tron Lightcycle/Run
That’s to be expected, as Tron and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will remain the top two.
Still, Tiana clocked in with an hourlong wait in third place, suggesting fan excitement for the standby queue.
I suspect that over the next year, Tiana will hover in the top six, but it’s unlikely to be third for the long term.
The throughput for this attraction lowers its wait times compared to something like Peter Pan’s Flight.

Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom
Overall, Magic Kingdom guests waited for an average of 29 minutes, which is four minutes less than last time.
Attendance did drop a bit this week, which is probably why Disney chose to alter the standby queues now.

Crowds
Park officials will have a few weeks of data to study before Spring Break crowds arrive, which is smart.
