NEW: Disney Files Permit for Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster
Big changes are happening at Walt Disney World! While some of these transformations are still a few years away, work is already underway on several major projects across the parks.
From the retheming of DinoLand, U.S.A. to Villains shows to Monsters Inc. and more, Disney is making big moves to expand its offerings.
One of the biggest changes fans are ready for is the retheming of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and just today, Disney has filed a new permit.
Notice of Commencement
Walt Disney World has just filed a Notice of Commencement permit for a complete repainting of… the iconic guitar that sits out front of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

Rock n Roller Coaster permit
The permit lists Harrison Contracting Co. Inc. as the contractor, and the work includes sanding, applying one coat of primer, and finishing with two coats of HP finish.
While the permit doesn’t specify whether the guitar will keep its signature red-and-white look or debut a brand-new design, it does show that changes are coming soon.

Concept Art by Disney
The last time Disney repainted the 40-foot-tall electric guitar was in the fall of 2021. There is no official word yet on when the painting will begin or whether additional exterior changes are part of the ride’s Muppet retheming.
However, the permit is valid for one year, so we suspect the work to take place sooner rather than later.
