ESPN Flagship Will Reportedly Facilitate the Addition of User-Generated Content
A new era in ESPN history will unfold before our eyes later this year when The Worldwide Leader in Sports debuts its new streaming service.
Internally referred to as Flagship, the direct-to-consumer product will give subscribers access to all of the games, studio shows, and specials that air across ESPN platforms without requiring a cable subscription.
Throughout the development of Flagship, ESPN has made it clear that the app will do more than just allow fans to watch games. While live sports will be the bedrock of Flagship, the product will also integrate ESPN Fantasy Sports and ESPN BET, creating an all-encompassing sports experience.

Additionally, using AI, Flagship will produce a version of SportsCenter tailored to subscribers’ interests.
ESPN Flagship Will Host User-Generated Content
According to a new report from CNBC, ESPN is also planning to add user-generated content to Flagship. The decision would mark a first for Disney, which has reportedly been considering entering into the world of user-generated content in an effort to compete with YouTube and TikTok.

Per CNBC, the user-generated content will not be available on ESPN Flagship when the product launches. Instead, a later addition to the app would allow subscribers to post their own content.
At this time, Disney has not announced a launch date, price point, or even name for the ESPN direct-to-consumer product. The expectation, however, is that the company will want the app up and running by the start of the 2025-2026 NFL season.
