‘WandaVision’ and ‘Agatha All Along’ Creator Jac Schaeffer to Direct ‘Holes’ For Disney+
Last month, we brought you the exciting news that Disney+ had ordered a pilot for a television series based on Louis Sachar’s 1998 best-seller Holes.
The series will be the second time Disney has adapted the book. Twenty-two ago, Disney released a film version of Holes starring Shai LaBeouf, Sigourney Weaver, Khleo Thomas, Jon Voight, Tim Blake Nelson, Patricia Arquette, and Dule Hill. The film was a hit, grossing $70 million.

“In this reimagining of the beloved 1998 book from Louis Sachar, a teenage girl is sent to a detention camp where the ruthless Warden forces the campers to dig holes for a mysterious purpose,” the show’s synopsis reads.
The Team Behind the Series
When the series was announced, it was revealed that Alina Mankin would write Holes and serve as an executive producer. Liz Phang, Drew Goddard, and Sarah Esberg will also serve as executive producers, with Phang pulling double duty as showrunner.
When asked what fans could expect from the new series, Goddard was coy.

“They’ve done a wonderful job capturing Louis Sachar’s unique spirit,” he said. “To say much more about what they have in store would spoil all the fun.”
Enter Jac Schaeffer
Now, Variety has learned that WandaVision and Agatha All Along creator Jac Schaeffer will direct the pilot.
The relationship between Disney and Schaeffer has already proven fruitful. WandaVision earned 23 Emmy nominations, and Agatha All Along was lauded by fans and critics alike.
