PHOTOS: Screen Door General Store Reopens at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort
If you have been reading along here at MickeyBlog, you know that change has been a constant at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort over the last year.
During that time, we have seen The Cake Bake Shop and Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs open, the Big River Grille close, and numerous refurbishments take place across the resort.
The last time we checked in, Disney had begun systematically refurbishing the resort’s three interconnected shops. At the time, the resort closed the Screen Door General Store but left the other sections operating as usual.
Now, roughly one month later, I am happy to announce that Screen Door General Store has reopened, and the refurbishment has moved on to the middle section of the stores.
Screen Door General Store Reopens
As you can see, Screen Door General Store once again offers beverages, drinks, groceries, apparel, and candy.
New light wood flooring and blue and white tiling have been installed, giving the gift shop a breezy feel.
The ceiling has also been lightened.
Here is a look at the bakery.
And the apparel section.
The Middle Store Has Closed
With work now complete on the Screen Door General Store side of the shops, the middle section is now blocked off by construction walls inside and planters outside. Here is a look at the store’s exterior.
A sign directs guests to use the other entrances.
As you can see, inside the stores, the section is walled off.
Thimbles and Threads Remains Open
Finally, the Thimbles and Threads section of the store remains operational.
The interior decor has not been changed yet.
Based on the project’s timeline, it looks like we can expect each store to undergo a month-long refurbishment.
