‘Nezha 2’ Has Surpassed ‘Inside Out 2’ to Become the Highest-Grossing Animated Film of All Time
Last year, Pixar made its triumphant return to theaters with the release of Inside Out 2. Not only did the film end up being a worthy follow-up to the immensely popular Inside Out, but it was also a box office behemoth.
By the time Inside Out 2 ended its run in theaters, the film had grossed nearly $1.7 billion. That not only made it the most successful film of 2024 but the highest-grossing animated film of all time.
While many believed that Moana 2 would have a chance at surpassing Inside Out 2’s global cume, that ended up not being the case.

Just months after the Pixar film reached the top of the animation mountain, however, its record has already been toppled.
‘Nezha 2’
The Chinese animated film Nezha 2 has officially surpassed Inside Out 2 and become the highest-grossing animated film of all time. Astonishingly, the movie has only been in theaters for three weeks. It now seems certain to pass the $2 billion mark.

While Nezha 2 has technically passed Inside Out 2 at the global box office, it should be noted that 99% of the film’s box office intake has come from mainland China.
The film’s success indicates that China’s strategy of promoting its own films and limiting Hollywood’s influence in its theaters has paid off.

Currently, Nezha 2 is the highest-grossing film ever in China, the highest-grossing non-English language film of all time, and the first non-English film to cross the $1 billion threshold.
The Film Is Showing No Signs of Slowing Down
By the time Nezha 2’s run is over, we could be looking at one of the three highest-grossing films of all time. Currently, the film sits at #8.
