PHOTOS: The Iconic Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama Entrance Sign Has Been Demolished
On January 12, 2025, Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama officially went extinct, as the land closed to facilitate the construction of Disney Animal Kingdom’s new Tropical Americas land.
Over the last month, we have seen the demolition of Dino-Rama unfold before our eyes. In that time, we saw construction walls and planters arrive, TriceraTop Spin start to come down, and a multitude of new permits filed.
Now, it appears that the demolition project has reached a major milestone. Here is the latest.
The Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama Entrance Sign Has Been Demolished
When visiting DinoLand U.S.A. today, we were surprised to see that the iconic Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama entrance sign has been demolished.

The Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama sign has been demolished.
The sign and its smiling dinosaurs had been visible above the construction walls until this weekend.
If you don’t remember the sign I am talking about, it looked like this.

Here is a look at the current state of the demolition.
While other locales, including Chester and Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures, what is left of TriceraTops Spin, and some of the land’s signage can still be seen, it is only a matter of time until Dino-Rama completely disappears.
At least for now, this smiling dinosaur still looms large over the area.
Disney Is Moving Quickly
While an official opening date has not been announced, Animal Kingdom’s new Tropical Americas land is expected to be completed in 2027. By the look of things, however, Disney is wasting no time and it won’t be long until only the memories (and perhaps a few fossils) of Chester and Hester’s Dino-Rama remain.
