‘Captain America: Brave New World’ Delivers $100 Million+ Opening Weekend
Captain America: Brave New World overcame middling reviews from critics and fans alike and soared past $100 million in its opening weekend.
As the fourth installment in the Captain America franchise and the first to star Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, all eyes were on Brave New World as it landed in theaters.

After the film was delayed by a year, underwent multiple reshoots, and reportedly fared poorly in test screenings, many were worried that the fourth Captain America would have a difficult time at the box office.
A Strong Start
Thankfully for Marvel, those fears appear to be unfounded. Captain America: Brave New World has now delivered the fourth-biggest President’s Day weekend opening ever, behind Black Panther ($242 million), Deadpool ($152 million), and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania ($120 million).
Overseas, the film delivered another $90 million for a $190 million global opening.
Looking Ahead
Now that Captain America: Brave New World has proven its mettle at the box office, the question will be how the film holds up. With a 51% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and a B- CinemaScore, the latest Captain America installment has not wowed audiences.

The last time Marvel released a film over President’s Day weekend, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania got off to a strong opening before quickly falling off a cliff. If Brave New World is going to make good on its budget, which was north of $180 million, the film will need to have an extended box office run.
The good news for Marvel is that there is a dearth of competition on the horizon. The hope, then, is that Brave New World will be able to run up its totals, and the MCU will be able to add another hit to its roster.
