Young Designer’s Dream Comes True at Walt Disney World
For 75 years, Cinderella has been a beloved Disney Princess known for her courage, kindness, and timeless style.

Her story has inspired millions of fans, including 10-year-old Rita, who is bravely battling cancer. After watching the Walt Disney Animation Studios classic, Rita dreamed of designing a princess ballgown of her own.
With the help of Make-A-Wish, Disney made that dream a reality!
Designing a Royal Disney Gown
Guided by the expert costume designers at Disney Live Entertainment, Rita was immediately part of the creative process, selecting colors, fabrics, and sparkles before sketching out her vision for a royal gown.
After consulting with her family and new Disney friends, she officially named her masterpiece “Rita’s Rose Diamond Dress.”
“I was so excited because I got to go to a top-secret fashion place at Disney,” Rita said. “I got to see all the ways costumes are designed, which was really cool.”
But the magic was just beginning as the costume team would bring Rita’s design to life in a beautiful small-scale version for her to keep.
Magical Moments

Allison, a Disney costume specialist who worked with Rita on her design, shared just how meaningful the experience was for her:
“As a child, I was in and out of the hospital myself. It means so much to be able to fulfill a wish for someone going through that because I know what it’s like,” Allison said. “It’s one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at Disney, and I’m so grateful I got to be part of it.”
Fairytale Meet and Greet
In addition to designing her ball gown, Rita met Cinderella’s mischievous stepsisters!

“We have a long road ahead of us, but having this time together as a family, having fun and smiling … there’s no words,” Rita’s mom said. “It means so much to us. This will be a forever memory for us.”

After some playful antics and a special serenade of “Oh, Sing Sweet Nightingale,” Rita visited Cinderella Castle to meet and greet with Cinderella and Prince Charming.
“I just had a blast!” Rita said, reflecting on her unforgettable day.
45 Years of Wishes
For 45 years, Disney and Make-A-Wish have partnered together to bring joy to children facing critical illnesses.

These magical experiences create lasting memories, inspire hope, and lift the spirits of Make-A-Wish kids and their families.
The magic doesn’t stop with Rita’s wish. More royal dreams are coming this April at Walt Disney World when Disney hosts the “Once Upon A Wish Party.” The exclusive Disney Princess celebration for Make-A-Wish families brings Disney to life in fun new ways.
