Daisy Ridley Shares an Optimistic Update on ‘New Jedi Order’
Despite speculation to the contrary, Lucasfilm is still chugging ahead with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Star Wars film.
Originally announced at Star Wars Celebration 2023, Chinoy’s film, which has been dubbed New Jedi Order, will see Daisy Ridley make her triumphant return as Rey Skywalker.

Set 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, the film will find an older and wiser Rey attempting to fulfill her promise to Luke and rebuild the Jedi Order.
Production on the Film Has Been Troubled
Unfortunately, the film’s production has been plagued with problems. Two years after New Jedi Order was revealed, the film has cycled through three different screenwriters and is seemingly no closer to hitting theaters than when it was announced.

In a new interview with ComicBook, Daisy Ridley provided an update on her Star Wars return. Thankfully, the actress continues to be optimistic.
“I have not read the latest script, but I know what’s happening. I know the story, and I think what feels really good is that George [Nolfi] is a phenomenal writer. And I think we’re making sure that this story is the best way, this script is the best way to tell the story,” Ridley told ComicBook.

Writer/director and also producer GEORGE NOLFI.
“And I think it will be worthwhile for everyone watching it, and I am very excited.”
When Will ‘New Jedi Order’ Hit Theates?
With Nolfi now on board and Ridley and Obaid-Chinoy seemingly dedicated to getting New Jedi Order made, fans will have to hope that the third time is the charm.

If the film does make it to theaters, it will follow The Mandalorian & Grogu, Shawn Levy’s Star Wars film, and likely James Mangold’s Dawn of the Jedi.

With a backlog of Star Wars films in development, Rey Skywalker’s return could be a long time coming.
