Uwanja Camp at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas Is Closed For Refurbishment
Over the past several weeks, Walt Disney World has announced numerous refurbishments. With lighter crowds and cooler temperatures on the horizon, Disney is using this time to spruce up various attractions, resorts, and pools.
To that end, we have seen everything from Big Thunder Mountain to Stormalong Bay and the shops at Disney’s BoardWalk Resort close.
While some of these refurbishments are expansive, others seem to be just routine maintenance.
The latest Disney World refurbishment is taking place at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas, where Uwanja Camp at Kidani has closed for refurbishment.
Uwanja Camp
For those who don’t know, Uwanja Camp is a water playground with 3 distinct zones. Observation Station lets children four and younger climb cargo crates and frolic through a gently bubbling geyser and a shallow cistern pool.

At Departure Zone, children 5 to 7 can play around a leaky water tower, while at Base Camp, kids 8 and up can douse each other with water cannons! If you have young kids, Uwanja Camp is a dream come true!

Unfortunately, the water play area is currently closed for refurbishment
A Look at the Refurbishment
Based on what we could see, the refurbishment’s focus is the Departure Zone water tower.
As you can see, construction crews have rebuilt the tower with new wood.
Fresh lumber was also lying on the pool deck nearby.
At this time, it is unclear how long the refurbishment of Uwanja Camp will take. By the look of things, however, the work is relatively extensive.
Hopefully, we learn more soon!
