Disney Reveals Why Nearly 20 Magic Kingdom Attractions Closed Simultaneously Last Night
Guests visiting Magic Kingdom last night found themselves in an unusual situation last night when the preponderance of the park’s attractions closed simultaneously.
At roughly 7:00 PM ET last night, widespread technical difficulties caused the closure of at least 18 attractions. These included:
- The Barnstormer
- Country Bear Musical Jamboree
- Dumbo the Flying Elephant
- “it’s a small world”
- Mad Tea Party
- The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh
- Mickey’s PhilharMagic
- Peter Pan’s Flight
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Prince Charming Regal Carrousel
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
- Space Mountain
- Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
- The Tomorrowland Speedway
- Under the Sea – Journey of The Little Mermaid and Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress.
Most Attractions Opened By the End of the Night
With limited attractions still running, wait times for the remaining Magic Kingdom attractions quickly swelled. By 9:00 PM ET, some of the park’s attractions had reopened through Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Haunted Mansion, “It’s a small world,” The Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, Space Mountain, and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure remained closed.
By 10 PM ET, only Space Mountain, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and “it’s a small world” had not returned to operation.
Needless to say, the closure of nearly 20 Magic Kingdom attractions grabbed headlines around the country.
Now, Disney has revealed the cause of the numerous attraction closures.
The Reason Behind the Closure
In a statement to Fox Business, Disney explained that the cause of last night’s technical difficulties was a power outage.
According to a spokesman, many guests were watching fireworks when the power outage occurred, and anyone who was on the ride when it went down was “safely escorted off.”

Frozen Holiday Surprise
This morning, the park returned to normal operations.
