Meet the Artists Behind the NEW “Mickey Faces” Collection at Uniqlo
Mickey Mouse is more than a beloved Disney character—he’s a pop culture symbol and the artistic inspiration for many, especially for the talented artists of Disney Consumer Products.
Now, a new collection is launching that celebrates Mickey and his legacy through the eyes of these amazing artists.
The Disney Mickey Faces Collection arrives at Uniqlo on February 10th and celebrates Mickey Mouse’s legacy through the eyes of Disney Consumer Products (DCP) artists.
Let’s take a closer look at three of the talented artists behind the collection and the creative inspiration behind their designs.
Nelson Ribeiro: A Comic Book Twist on Mickey
Meet Senior Graphic Designer Nelson Ribeiro. Mickey Mouse has been a lifelong source of inspiration, impacting him early on.

Disney
One of his earliest Disney memories is meeting Mickey on the Tomorrowland bridge in Magic Kingdom—a moment that reinforced his belief in the power of imagination.
Now, as a father, he experiences that magic again through his 3-year-old daughter’s love for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Disney
Nelson’s design for the Mickey Faces collection combines his passions for Marvel and Disney. It uses the bold, action-packed style of classic comic books.
His design pays tribute to the storytelling power of both comics and cartoons.
Kaori Matsuo: Finding Joy in the Details
Kaori Matsuo is a Lead Artist with DCP in Japan and has always associated Mickey Mouse and designing with warmth and happiness.

Disney
Inspired by hours of watching classic Disney cartoons like Magician Mickey, she wanted her design to evoke that same nostalgic charm while fitting into people’s everyday lives.

Disney
Kaori’s Mickey Faces design features a unique approach— the elements come together to form Mickey’s shape only when viewed as a whole. Her work reflects how something familiar can be reimagined in a new and timeless way.
Catherine Chen: A Digital Tribute to Mickey’s Legacy
For Senior Designer Catherine Chen, Mickey Mouse represents both tradition and evolution as she adds her own digital-age twist.

Disney
Inspired by a small sketch of Mickey playing tennis, the image has been taped to her drawing tablet since her first days at Disney.
It is a reminder of how Mickey’ has been reinterpreted many times, but his spirit is unchanged!

Disney
Catherine’s Mickey Faces design merges nostalgia with technology, drawing inspiration from early ‘90s computer graphics. She blends and layers pixelated patterns with flowers and hidden special tributes to create a trendy, cool look.
