“This has been a long time coming,” Paolini on Twitter “I can’t tell you how many conversations, meetings, and messages were needed in order to reach this point. And we’re still just at the beginning! However, none of this would have been possible without everyone who has read the books, supported the tweetstorms, and participated in this fandom over the years. So a huge thank you from me to every Alagaësian out there. You brought the thunder.”
‘The Inheritance Cycle’
For those who don’t know, Eragon was the first installment in The Inheritance Cycle series. In the book, a farm boy named Eragon discovers an egg that hatches into a dragon named Saphira. Eventually, Eragon learns to be a Dragon Rider and sets out to battle the evil king Galbatorix.
First published in 2002, Eragon was a massive success. The book was followed by three sequels: 2005’s Eldest, 2008’s Brisingr, and 2011’s Inheritance. In total, the series has sold over 41 million copies worldwide.

Since the Disney+ Eragon series was announced, updates on the project have been few and far between. In fact, the lack of news about the series led many to speculate that it had quietly been canceled.
Luckily, that is not the case.
‘Eragon’ Is Still in Development
In a new post on X, Paolini assured fans that the series was still in development.
“Btw, Disney+ #Eragon show is still on track. Can’t say anything more until a major contract gets signed. (Hollywood negotiations take *forever*.)” he wrote

Following their success with Percy Jackson and the Olympians and Goosebumps. It appears that Disney+ will continue to lean into young adult stories. With Holes and Eragon still in the works, Disney will soon be the undisputed home of young adult series.
