Our Experience at Disney California Adventure’s Moonlight Magic Event
Disney Vacation Club (DVC) members receive many perks–including access to the Moonlight Magic events! Moonlight Magic events give eligible DVC members a free celebration after the park has closed to regular guests. These after-hours events provide shorter wait times for the park’s attractions, special meet-and-greets, entertainment, complimentary treats, and more!

Disney California Adventure (DCA) just hosted its own Moonlight Magic event, and we were lucky enough to be in attendance. Of course, we’re giving you the rundown on the entire event–here’s how it went!
Disney California Adventure – DVC Moonlight Magic Event
DCA hosted its Moonlight Magic event on February 3rd, with the park closing to regular guests at 9PM. Signs were posted around the entrance advising guests of the early closure.

The event ran from 9PM to 12AM, with guest check-in beginning at 6PM. While checking in, we were handed a guide map and three vouchers (per person) for snacks and drinks including popcorn, hot dogs, pickles, bottled drinks, and more.

The guide map was specifically crafted for the event, with icons to assist guests with finding event offerings!

To celebrate the event, the park had projections in Hollywood Land…

The Animation Building had a DVC marquee that welcomed us home!

Of course, there were photo-ops–like this adventurous Grizzly Peak backdrop with event-related designs.

Our favorite was Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons’ Cinderella Platinum Coach photo-op near Hyperion Theater. The coach has platinum furnishings with over 75 hand-crafted leaves, a pumpkin canopy, and vines. (This is the horse-drawn carriage couples can ride during their ceremony/reception!)
For entertainment, we watched World of Color One, which played at 10:15PM! (We also danced along to the silent disco in San Fransokyo but there were no pictures taken–we were in the moment.)

Of course, we shopped through the merch at Five & Dime! There was a DVC Member Moonlight Magic Loungefly Backpack which had a buckle-strap front pocket…

…and a main design of Mickey standing among the stars and moon! The backpack was $90.

The event’s zip-up jacket had the DVC member logo on the chest…

…and the same Mickey stars and moon design on the back. (It glows in the dark!) The jacket was $89.99.

Since we get complimentary Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars and Fruit Bars, we absolutely had to get several. (What? We had to fuel up for the many meet-and-greets we’d be walking around for!)
