Disney and the NFL Make Magic Happen For Families of Fallen Military Heroes
As part of Disney’s longstanding commitment to honoring military veterans and their families, Walt Disney World and the National Football League (NFL) recently teamed up to make magic happen for families of fallen U.S. military heroes and the family of a fallen British service member.
The event was organized by the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), a nonprofit organization focused on providing compassionate care and comprehensive resources to the families of fallen military heroes.

The families traveled from around the country to participate in football fun during the Pro Bowl. Before heading to Disney’s Wide World of Sports Complex, however, the families visited EPCOT, where they got to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and even met Star-Lord!
Disney SALUTE Members Were on Hand to Greet the Families
While visiting Disney World, the families were met by members of the Disney SALUTE veteran resource group.

“Today was magical, fun, and filled with surprises for the families of the fallen. These incredible Walt Disney World welcomes have become a tradition for TAPS and being so personal and meaningful, the Disney Salute team makes us feel like family,” said Diana Roday Hosford, TAPS vice president, Sports & Entertainment.

“We are so grateful we are able to come to Orlando with the NFL for the Pro Bowl and to bring some of the magic of Disney into this very special weekend.”
Walt Disney World Ambassadors Serena Arvizu and Shannon Smith-Conrad were also in attendance.

It’s so important for us to recognize and thank the men and women serving our country, as well as their families, for the sacrifices they make every day,” said Shannon.
