Dumbo the Flying Elephant Playground Closes Soon for Refurbishment
A lot is going on at Walt Disney World! Attractions, hotels, and more are getting updates, and there is plenty of refurbishment happening across the resort.
Disney filed three permits today for the room refurbishment project happening at Disney’s Pop Century Resort.

We reported that the Screen Door General Store at Disney’s Boardwalk also recently closed for remodeling.
Attractions are getting updates, too! The Hall of Presidents recently closed temporarily as President Trump begins his second term.

These are just a few of the exciting updates happening, and now we have one more! Today at Magic Kingdom, we noticed one more area undergoing changes as Disney prepares for refurbishment.
Dumbo Playground Closes Soon
This indoor children’s playground is located in the Dumbo the Flying Elephant queue in Magic Kingdom.

The beloved playground is part of the interactive line and was originally scheduled to be closed for refurbishment beginning today, January 27. Disney later changed the closure date to February 24, 2025.
The playground is expected to open in the spring of 2025, although no specific reopening date has been announced.

Though the actual playground is getting updates, the ride is still open for guests, and the closure will only affect the play areas.

We noticed some tarps and barriers are up and smelled possible paint thinner, but no construction yet.

Disney has not provided specific information about the refurbishment or what it entails, but it looks like the flooring and netting may be upgraded. We will be checking back in!
We hope this popular area does not close for too long, and we are eager to see the end result.
