BEST Walt Disney World Rides for Babies
This past summer, I finally took my Babymoon in Walt Disney World. My husband and I joyfully strolled the parks as we dreamed about our family of three.
But it was a very different trip. Despite being a Disney veteran, I had to figure out which rides were safe for pregnant women.
Being prepared and getting myself in the right mindset saved my vacation. I savored the attractions I got to ride and avoided the frustration of figuring things out on the go.
Now that our sweet little boy is here, we’re planning a family trip. With a baby less than a year old, we need that Babymoon mindset once more.
Our little guy is too young for Rider Switch, so it’s time to list family-friendly only attractions. Like pregnancy-safe rides, many WDW rides have no height requirement.
That means that even my fourth month-old baby, can hop on the Disney ride vehicle.
Here are the best of the best choices!
Pirates of the Caribbean (The Magic Kingdom)
As a Walt Disney purist, I favor his original attractions. Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the best.
Gather your whole family into the boat and experience a top-notch dark ride.
The boat weaves through caverns, past huge vessels, and through pirate-ravaged towns. The ceilings are painted to look like the night sky, and the hummable theme song plays throughout.
This is family-friendly for many reasons. It’s entertaining, has only a small drop, and the imagery is less intense than other rides (i.e. The Haunted Mansion).
Avast ye mateys! Adventure awaits all ages!
Peter Pan’s Flight (The Magic Kingdom)
What’s more magical than soaring to Neverland? My childhood favorite, Peter Pan’s Flight, is a must-ride in Fantasyland.
Hugely popular, Lightning Lanes sell out for this attraction. But don’t worry, the queue is equally magical.
Enjoy walking through the Darlings’ nursery. Catch glimpses of Tinkerbell making mischief and sprinkling pixie dust.
Then, come aboard a pirate ship vehicle. Suspended on a hanging track, you’ll feel like you’re flying through this dark ride.
Delight in the birds-eye views of London and iconic spots in Neverland. Find yourself in the middle of a pirate battle and laughing at the defeated Captain Hook.
With its storybook setting and gentle pace, everyone can be a kid again on Peter Pan’s Flight.
It’s a Small World (The Magic Kingdom)
Most parents are used to cyclical songs, but most aren’t composed by the Sherman Brothers.
It’s a Small World is a love it or tolerate it attraction, but I think it’s a beautiful piece of Disney history. Your sensory-loving baby will love it!
Hop aboard one of the happiest and calmest cruises. Enjoy colorful scenes from around the globe featuring Mary Blair’s artwork and the signature song.
You might be humming this tune for a while, but It’s a Small World deserves our respect. And it’s never too early to introduce a classic to your kids.
The Seas with Nemo and Friends (EPCOT)
Hopping over to EPCOT’s Future World, The Seas with Nemo and Friends, is part ride/part educational experience.
Located in the Seas pavilion, this smooth dark ride takes guests through the plot of Finding Nemo (2003). Utilizing projections, practical sets, and animatronics, riders watch Marlin find his long-lost son.
Uniquely, the ride ends with views into a real aquarium. Projections of Nemo and friends appear in the tank singing “In the Big Blue World”. (Yes, that is the same song from the Animal Kingdom stage show.)
I’d recommend this ride for its heartwarming story, easy-going speed, and walk-on availability. The whole family gets a breather, and the baby may even see their first shark.
Kilimanjaro Safari (Animal Kingdom)
Zoos are a big hit with families and the Animal Kingdom is so much more. This animal-centric park is ideal for kids of all ages.
Your littlest traveler will love seeing new feathered, furry, and scaley friends. The best place to do this is at the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction.
Kilimanjaro Safari is a jeep ride through a recreated Savanna landscape. Thanks to Disney’s camouflaged barriers, your family will see hippos, alligators, and lions at a safe distance. During the trip, Cast Members share their unique animal facts.
No safari ride is the same, which makes for great re-rideability. Wilderness Explorers of all ages will approve.
Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros (EPCOT)
Lastly, this EPCOT gem is perfect for the whole familia! Step inside the Mexico Pavillion, decorated to mimic eternal twilight.
Scour the vibrant marketplace and sip an exceptional margarita. Before leaving, take the whole clan on the boat ride: Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros.
As the name states, this boat ride stars the Three Caballeros (Panchito, Jose, and the infamous Donald Duck). Donald’s bandmates chase him through Mexico as he causes mischief.
This ride showcases Imagineering’s creativity by using a mix of screens, projections, and classic animatronics. (The animatronics feel straight out of “It’s a Small World.”)
Overall, this ride is relaxing, colorful, and a welcome break for your feet. Walking around the EPCOT World Showcase is not for the faint of heart.
Age-appropriate for all, this ride is perfect for tiny amigos.
With so many baby-friendly rides, you can easily justify a Disney World trip before they “remember it”. The unfiltered joy on a child’s face is priceless.
Now go make some memories with your little one!
