PHOTOS: Stormalong Bay Closes For Major Renovation at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts
The five-month refurbishment of Stormalong Bay at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts is officially underway.
Originally announced last August, the renovation of Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool is expected to continue through June of this year. “Guests may see or hear construction work during daytime hours,” Disney previously warned.
As the most popular pool on Disney property, the loss of Stormalong Bay will be felt by guests staying at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts.

With construction now underway, we headed over to the pool to check things out.
The Latest From Stormalong Bay
As you can see, part of Stormalong Bay has already been drained, and construction crews have wasted no time getting to work.

The renovation of Stormalong Bay has begun.
The other part of the pool remains full of water.
Here is another look.
From what we could tell, some sand has been removed from the bottom of the pool to facilitate the work being done.
There was also quite a bit of scoring along the deck.
So far, all that Disney has revealed about the project is that it is “routine maintenance.”
Know Before You Go
If you plan on staying at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club this spring, make sure you plan ahead. Stormalong Bay, which is the resort’s major draw, will not be open.
While the pool is closed, guests are encouraged to visit the Yacht and Beach Club’s Admiral, Tidal, and Dunes Cove pools.
