Will ‘Skeleton Crew’ Return For Another Season? Here’s What the Show’s Creators Have to Say
While Star Wars: Skeleton Crew‘s first season has officially ended, the series’ story will continue if creators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford get their way.
In a recent interview with TechRadar ahead of the Skeleton Crew Season 1 finale, Watts and Ford revealed that should Disney pick up the series for another season, they have come up with “different possibilities” about where the narrative could go next.
With the series’ future uncertain beyond its first season, Watts and Ford made sure to tell a complete story, albeit one that could be continued.

“Yeah, we wanted to make sure this season had a satisfying beginning, middle, and end. But, if people want to see more ‘Skeleton Crew,’ we’d be happy to make more,” Watts said.

“We’re dreaming of it [a second season],” Ford added. “We’ve come up with different possibilities, so never say never.”
Will ‘Skeleton Crew’ Get a Second Season?
Despite the creator’s willingness to continue the Skeleton Crew story, a second season looks unlikely.
Since its debut, the latest Star Wars streaming series has received glowing reviews from fans and critics alike. Unfortunately, that has not translated into ratings.

As of this writing, Skeleton Crew has yet to appear in Nielsen’s Top 10 and is, by all accounts, the lowest-rated Star Wars streaming series ever. For a series with a large budget, such as Skeleton Crew, that will not cut it.
Things Could Change
While it remains unlikely that Skeleton Crew will be picked up for a second season, fans still have reasons to hold out hope.

The ratings for Skeleton Crew‘s later episodes have yet to be revealed. It is possible, then, that the show’s strong reviews have helped it grow an audience.
Additionally, with The Mandalorian jumping to the big screen and Andor coming to an end, Disney+ is largely bereft of upcoming Star Wars content. In fact, outside of Ahsoka Season 2, the cupboard looks bare.

Perhaps then, Disney will use Skeleton Crew to fill the void. If nothing else it could keep Star Wars fans occupied while new shows are developed.
Will the ‘Skeleton Crew’ Kids Pop Up Elsewhere?
Even if Skeleton Crew is not picked up for a second season, we have likely not seen the last of the show’s young stars. With Dave Filoni set to bring the heroes of the New Republic together for his Heir to the Empire film, it has long been assumed that the Skeleton Crew cast will return.

Seeing the Skeleton Crew kids meet Ahsoka or Grogu would be something.
“It’s exciting to think about,” Watts explained to TechRadar. “We’ve mainly been focused on telling this story, but there’s always a chance that they [the kids] could meet some surprising people in the future.”

“What’s exciting about these characters is the kids are actually kid actors,” Ford added, “And they’re growing up. So, if they appeared in something else, we’d be telling the story of how they grew up and found their place in the galaxy.”‘
