Bob Iger Remembers David Lynch: “Taught Me the Value of Taking Big Artistic Risks”
This afternoon, the world was shocked and saddened to learn that legendary filmmaker David Lynch had passed away at the age of 78.
With his unique blend of surrealism, horror, and film noir, Lynch changed the face of American cinema with his visionary films. Among his best-known titles were Eraserhead, The Elephant Man, Dune, Blue Velvet, and Mulholland Drive. A true original, Lynch would inspire generations of filmmakers to come.

While Lynch only ever made one film for Disney, 1999’s The Straight Story, his relationship with Disney CEO Bob Iger went much deeper.

In 1989, Bob Iger was the head of ABC Entertainment when David Lynch’s Twin Peaks came across his desk. Iger eventually championed the project and helped guide the show to a series.
