Manatees Removed From The Seas & More Changes at EPCOT’s Aquarium
The only constant is change at Disney World. Okay, not really — but there seriously are changes that happen all the time in the parks! It can be slight price increases for menu items or major construction on attractions.
Today, we discovered a bunch of changes over at The Seas Pavilion in EPCOT. Let’s break it down.
Changes at The Seas
Some major construction is happening inside The Seas Pavilion.
Walls are up around the former dolphins exhibit.
We already knew that the dolphins would be leaving The Seas, and now, work has begun to refurbish this area of the aquarium.
Here’s another look.
You can still visit the other parts of the aquarium, as the dolphins’ tank wasn’t connected to the large part of the tank over here.
Make sure to check out the cute signs on the walls!
But, we also found out some super sad news — the manatees are also gone from The Seas.
According to a Cast Member we talked to, the manatees were permanently moved last night to Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium and the Gulf Aquarium at Gulfarium Marine Adventure Park.
This is the same place the dolphins were taken.
The Cast Member told us that Florida is in need of rescue and release facilities, so The Seas is moving towards that goal for the manatees. They said that eventually, manatees will return to The Seas, but it will be more of a rescue, rehab, and release situation.
Right now, they’re working on refurbishing the tank and there is no timeline for when manatees could appear again.
Also note that The Seas with Nemo and Friends attraction will close early at 7PM tonight due to the work being done over here.
