Construction Officially Begins on the Avengers Campus Expansion This Weekend
At last year’s D23: The Ultimate Fan Event, Disney Experience’s chairman, Josh D’Amaro, announced that an Avengers Campus expansion was coming to Disney California Adventure.
With Deadpool himself joining D’Amaro onstage, the Disney executive revealed Disney’s plans to double the size of Avengers Campus by adding two new attractions- the long-awaited Avengers Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab.
On Avengers Infinity Defense, guests will team up with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes to battle King Thanos across the multiverse. The attraction is expected to feature some of the most iconic locations in the MCU, including Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City.

Stark Flight Lab, meanwhile, will let guests suit up with Tony Stark to test out the latest Stark technology on a simulated flight. The attraction will see Robert Downey Jr. reprise his role as Iron Man.
Construction Begins This Weekend
While Disney did not announce an opening date for the Avengers Campus expansion, they did promise that work would begin in 2025.
True to their word, according to a report from the OC Register, construction on the project commenced this weekend!
To facilitate the construction, Disneyland will close the Timon parking lot on January 12. Disney previously filed plans for the expansion with the city of Anaheim last November.
The Red Car Trolley Will Close Next Month
Subsequently, the Red Car Trolley will close on February 8 to make way for the expansion. Following the attraction’s closure, one Red Car Trolley will remain parked on Buena Vista Street for photo ops.
