Space Mountain 50th Anniversary Pins Arrive at Walt Disney World
On January 15, 1975, Space Mountain opened in Tomorrowland, beginning a new era in Magic Kingdom history.
Debuting alongside the WEDWay PeopleMover and Star Jets, Space Mountain marked a series of firsts for Disney. The attraction was the company’s first indoor roller coaster, the first roller coaster to take place entirely in the dark, and the first coaster to be operated by computers.

At 183 feet tall, Space Mountain also became the second-highest structure in the Magic Kingdom.
50 Years of Adventure
For fifty years, guests at The Most Magical Place on Earth have been blasting off on a high-speed journey through the galaxy on Space Mountain. Over that time, generations of fans have fallen in love with the attraction. In fact, for many, braving the journey through the cosmos is a rite of passage.

In celebration of Space Mountain’s big anniversary, Disney has released a pair of commemorative pins. Let’s take a closer look!
Space Mountain 50 Years Mickey Pin
The first new pin depicts Mickey blasting off in Space Mountain’s iconic blue tunnel.
Looking closely, you can see that the back of the ride vehicle reads “50 Years.”
Below Mickey, the Space Mountain logo can also be found!

Space Mountain 50 Years Annual Passholder Pin
The second new Space Mountain 50th anniversary pin is for all the Annual Passholders out there.
The new pin features Goofy and Donald riding the attraction together. I love their expressive faces.
Next to them is Space Mountain’s iconic facade and the “50 Years” logo.
This pin would make the perfect addition to any collection.
