Disney Cruise Line Announces New Plans for Ships Through 2031
Disney Cruise Line has just shared some exciting updates about its fleet expansion. Between 2027 and 2031, Disney will launch four new ships, including one final Wish-class ship in 2027.
In addition, three innovative ships in a new class will debut in 2029, 2030, and 2031. The news, first reported by Seatrade Cruise, marks a big step forward for the cruise line.

The new class of ships will be 20% larger than the original Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, with a gross tonnage of approximately 100,000 and capacity for 3,000 passengers.
For three of its four upcoming ships, Disney is downsizing a bit to be more eco-friendly. One will be Wish-class, while the other three will be smaller.
The ships will be constructed at the renowned Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, continuing Disney’s tradition of partnering with world-class shipbuilders.

What can guests look forward to with these new ships? These vessels will be the lightest cruise ships of their size, saving fuel with a streamlined hull and next-generation power and propulsion systems.
Energy efficiency is at the foundation of these new ships, which have new battery systems that allow them to shut down their engines and use shore power.
They will also be among the most sustainable in their class, capable of running on renewable fuels like hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and methanol.

The smaller size of the new ships will enable Disney to explore destinations that cater to modestly sized vessels while continuing Disney’s commitment to the environment.
