The Walt Disney World Railroad Narration Has Been Updated to Reflect Thunder Mountain’s Closure
With the Magic Kingdom’s Big Thunder Mountain Railroad now closed for an extensive refurbishment, the Walt Disney World Railroad narration has been updated.
Previously, as the railroad left the Frontierland Train Station and passed Thunder Mountain, the narrator would comment on the attraction.
“Those of you who have been riding with me for a spell already know how much I love minding this railroad. But for those times I’m fixing for something a bit wilder, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is the place. Because there, the trains have a mind of their own!”
The New Narration
With Thunder Mountain set to remain closed until 2026, the railroad narration has been updated. Instead of highlighting the thrilling attraction, the Walt Disney World Railroad narrator comments on the construction.
“There it is, Big Thunder Mountain. Now, normally, folks around here have a one-track mind for gold, but mining seems to have been derailed. They’ve been working on that railroad all the live long day. They’ll be full-steam ahead in no time, hopefully with some new bells and whistles,” the new narration explains.

Construction Continues
Since Thunder Mountain closed on January 6, Disney has wasted no time getting construction underway.
Yesterday, we saw that crews had begun removing part of the ride’s track.
That work seems to be continuing as we were able to spot construction workers in Tumbleweeed, just outside the Dave V. Jones Mine!
Caution tape and other construction materials were also visible from the railroad.

While it remains to be seen what Disney has in store for Thunder Mountain, they continue to hint that new additions are coming to the ride.
Hopefully, we learn more soon.
