How Far Is Disneyland From the Los Angeles Fires?
As wildfires continue to rage through California, the world’s attention has been focused on the Golden State.
With Los Angeles at the epicenter of the blazes, some of the country’s most recognizable landmarks have found themselves under threat.
Last night, a fire broke out in Hollywood Hills, just one mile from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Similarly, the Hollywood sign and Griffith Observatory have both found themselves in close proximity to the flames.
What About Disneyland?
As a non-native Californian, hearing that Universal Studios Hollywood has closed and that guests can see flames from the Walk of Fame instantly made me worry about Disneyland.
Thankfully, The Happiest Place on Earth does not appear to be in danger at the time of writing.
For those who don’t know, Disneyland is roughly 38 miles from Los Angeles and 47 miles from Pacific Palisades, where one of the largest wildfires began.
So far, there is no indication that Disneyland is under threat, and the park has continued to operate normally.
Burbank Is Closer, But Not Under Threat
While Disneyland fans can breathe a sigh of relief, it should be noted that Walt Disney’s headquarters in Burbank is much closer to the fires.
Today, Walt Disney Studios closed their lots and offices.
Thankfully, Burbank has not been ordered to evacuate yet, and it does not appear to be in harm’s way at this time.
While Disney’s major California attractions look like they will be spared from the wildfires, the blazes have ravaged the state. As Bob Iger and Joe Rohde pointed out, the fires have devastated countless Cast Members, Disney employees, and Disney fans.
Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone who has been affected.
