Here Are All of Disney’s 2025 Movies
The Walt Disney Company just completed an exceptionally successful 2024 campaign.
After an off year in 2023, Disney reclaimed its throne as the best film studio, earning quite a bit more money than any other competitor.

However, momentum is only as strong as tomorrow night’s starter, as the saying goes.
While 2024 looked incredible on paper, Disney will release a couple of challenging titles this year.
Let’s discuss Disney’s 2025 film schedule, which appears on paper to be another strong list.
Captain America: Brave New World – February 14th, 2025

Image: Marvel
The fireworks begin next month when Sam Wilson stars in his first movie.
Wilson joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Once Steve Rogers retired as Captain America, he handed his shield to Wilson.
Disney+ fans have already watched The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but this is Wilson’s big chance to lead a movie.

Brave New World has undergone enough reshoots that it borders on being an entirely new film.
So, there are quality concerns here. It’s nowhere near the slam dunk that Deadpool & Wolverine was.

Photo: Marvel
Still, this MCU title definitely has a hook. Harrison Ford (!!!) will star as the President of the United States…and the Red Hulk.
Disney’s Snow White – March 21st, 2025
On paper, this title sounds like the most obvious hit Disney has ever released.
We’re discussing the live-action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Photo: Disney
You don’t even need to know much about Disney or Hollywood to recognize the historical significance of Snow White.
Walt Disney threw his entire fortune into the production of the original Snow White.

Photo: Disney
Critics were certain he had failed, but Snow White became the first feature-length animated movie ever. And audiences loved it.
Now, Disney has finally remade its most iconic animated title, the one that started it all.

Photo: Disney
Alas, there’s a danger in taking another crack at such a revered title. Fans will evaluate the follow-up in a harsher light.
Then, we have the off-screen issues between strong-willed, outspoken actress Rachel Zegler and a small segment of the population.

Photo: Disney
Thousands of people have spent hours of their lives hating a 23-year-old woman they don’t know.
Objectively, the whole thing is mystifying, but it creates a marketing nightmare for Disney.

Photo: Disney
Even worse, the shots of the live-action Seven Dwarfs look cartoonish, and I don’t mean that in a good way.
The Amateur – April 11th, 2025

The Amateur
I discussed this title in last year’s article. It’s back again due to a modest release date change.
Internally, the word is that Disney delayed the film to give it a better chance at breaking out.

Photo: Above the Line
The Amateur features a stellar cast anchored by Mr. Robot himself, Rami Malek, and The Marvelous Ms. Maisel, Rachel Brosnahan.
You shouldn’t get too attached to Brosnahan’s character, though.

The Amateur
Her death triggers the revenge gene in Ramek’s character. He tries to bring justice to those who murdered his wife.
Nobody thinks he can do that because, while he’s an espionage expert, he’s had no field training. He’s just an analyst.

The Amateur
So, The Amateur is half Three Days of the Condor and half John Wick/Taken.
Thunderbolts* — May 2nd, 2025

Marvel
Less than three months after Brave New World, its companion film, Thunderbolts*, debuts.
Much has been made about the asterisk after the title, but that’s a curiosity at best.

Marvel
The excitement here resides in the fact that some of the most morally ambiguous MCU characters will team up soon.
This is Marvel’s answer to the Suicide Squad, a movie concept DC has tried and failed twice now.

Marvel
Disney has an ace in the hole here as many of these characters are already beloved, including Bucky, aka the Winter Soldier.
So, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ indirectly led to two different theatrical releases.

Photo: Den Of Geek
The expectation is that Thunderbolts* will set up the next major story arc in the MCU, making it a must-watch title.
Will audiences give this one a chance after shrugging their shoulders at Suicide Squad twice?
Lilo & Stitch – May 23rd, 2025

Photo: Disney
Here’s the title on this list that makes my wife’s heart sing.
Like many of you, she’s an *ahem* Stitch enthusiast, which is to say that she just finished her yearlong Stitch Attack Snacks collection last week.

Photo: Disney
Some people love Stitch so much that the character has become one of Disney’s most reliable merchandising brands.
The proof is in the pudding, as Stitch Attack Snacks was the second straight year of monthly Stitch stuffed animal releases.

Photo: Disney
The adorable genetic abomination stole our hearts in 2002, and we still love him today, even though I’m more of a Lilo fan.
This Memorial Day, Disney will retell the story of Lilo & Stitch as a live-action film.

Photo: Disney
The title was originally supposed to be for streaming, but Disney pivoted just like with Moana 2.
While I don’t expect a billion-dollar blockbuster here, I’m also not ruling it out.

Photo: Disney
If the film is good, it could/should capitalize on 20 years of goodwill to become a sizable hit.
If Lilo & Stitch is bad, everything involved with the project is now my wife’s sworn enemy. You’ve been warned.
Elio – June 13th, 2025

Pixar Logo
For the past several years, critics have wondered aloud about the sustainability of Pixar’s business model.
During the pandemic, Disney released Pixar titles straight to streaming out of necessity.

Photo: Pixar
Once the pandemic ended, titles like Elemental, while strong in quality, struggled at the box office.
Even though Elemental proved profitable, it underscored the studio’s problem.

Photo: Wikimedia
New intellectual properties (IPs) rarely excel at the box office. To wit, the most popular new IP of 2024 was IF.
The Ryan Reynolds film earned $190 million against a $100 million budget, which isn’t enough to be profitable in Hollywood.

Image: Pixar
So, this isn’t a Pixar problem but rather a film industry problem.
Inside Out 2, the number one movie of 2024, proved that established Pixar IP performs exceedingly well.

Image: Pixar
The problem is that you must release the first film to establish the story and characters.
Pixar remains committed to new IP despite the risks.
This brings us to Elio, a hilarious story about a boy who gets confused for Earth’s ambassador to the stars.
The delightful tale promises lots of intergalactic twists and turns, but this film faces the same concern as Brave New World.

Photo: Disney
Pixar has stopped and started the project several times, so there are potential issues with quality – at least by Pixar standards.
Fantastic Four: First Steps – July 25th, 2025

Photo: Marvel
I wasn’t a comic book kid growing up, but there was one superhero team I sometimes read. It was the Fantastic Four.
That loyalty as a child has bitten me so much as an adult.

Source: Marvel
Let’s be honest. The best Fantastic Four movie would be right there with Thor: The Dark World for the worst MCU film.
Marvel hopes and expects to change that with its upcoming release, Fantastic Four: First Steps.

Fantastic Four

This movie isn’t an origin story but rather an alternate universe premise that will likely lead the characters to join the MCU soon.
The casting for this project proved almost comical with its challenges, but we wound up with the Mandalorian himself, Pedro Pascal, as Mr. Fantastic.

Fantastic Four: First Steps
Joining him are Vanessa Kirby of the Fast & the Furious franchise and Joseph Quinn, the leader of the Hellfire Club from Stranger Things.
Marvel is going big here with Galactus, who is colloquially known as “the World Eater,” so it will be a high-stakes affair.

Fantastic Four: First Steps
I actually have high hopes for 2025’s Fantastic Four reboot, unlike the disastrous one a few years ago.
Freakier Friday – August 8th, 2025

Photo: Disney+
In the annals of unlikely sequels, this one’s way up there.
Back in 2003, Jamie Lee Curtis played Lindsay Lohan’s mother in the remake of Freaky Friday.

Photo: IMDB
The film was quite charming, and I have always warmly recommended it to others.
Still, I’ll confess that I had no idea it left any sort of societal footprint.
Soon after the film was released, Lindsay Lohan’s Hollywood reputation took a turn.
She was persona non grata for a while but has recently started to make a comeback.

Photo: Disney
Meanwhile, Jamie Lee Curtis has had the kind of late-career success that’s nearly unprecedented among Hollywood lead actresses.
Within the last two years, she’s won both an Academy Award and an Emmy.

Photo: CNN
She’s done some of this for Disney with her work on The Bear and recently became a Disney Legend.
So, if Jamie Lee Curtis wants to do a Freaky Friday sequel, I suspect the conversation is as simple as that.

Photo: Disney
We know little about this story so far, but I presume it’s as simple as “the whole thing happens again 20 years later.”
I also quite like that Disney is bringing back many of the same performers from the first film.
Tron: Ares – October 10th, 2025

‘Tron: Ares’ Photo: Also Disney
I’ve watched both Tron films a lot, and I suspect many of you fellow Disney fans know my pain.
Both films are as visually stimulating as anything that came out during their years of release.

Photo: Disney
As far as the stories go, well, it’s always nice to see Jeff Bridges in things.
I don’t know what Olivia Wilde was doing in that last film, but it wasn’t my cup of tea.

Jared Leto will star in ‘Tron: Ares’. Photo: joblo.com
On the bright side, this film stars Jared Leto, and the rest of the cast has a chance to do something that hasn’t happened yet.
They can tell a very good story.
Should they fail, at least Tron 3 will almost certainly be pretty.
With an estimated budget of $170 million, Tron: Ares represents a calculated risk for Disney, but I get it.
The Tron brand is extremely recognizable.
All the franchise really needs is a good film.
Predator: Badlands — November 7th, 2025

Predator: Badlands
Director Dan Trachtenberg gained acclaim for his work on the psychological thriller 10 Cloverfield Lane, a film with a twist ending that still makes me smile.
The director followed that up by helming the pilot of a little TV show called The Boys.

Prey
Then, he worked on a straight-to-Hulu movie titled Prey.
Whether or not you’ve watched it – and I highly recommend that you do – the film proved wildly successful while earning rave reviews.

Photo: online.com
As I type this, Prey is currently 94 percent fresh on RottenTomatoes and even won an Emmy.
After the title’s release, Trachtenberg stated that he fully intended to create more Predator stories. Badlands is the first of them.

Predator: Badlands
Disney has remained coy about any connection between Prey and Badlands.
All we know is that actress Elle Fanning runs into a predator in an alien wasteland – so good luck to her!
Zootopia 2 – November 26th, 2025
Circling back to the original IP discussion, Zootopia is one of the best projects in Disney’s recent history to introduce a fully formed world full of memorable and engaging characters.
Also, a point that doesn’t get mentioned enough is that Zootopia earned $1 billion.
For original IP, that’s shocking.
So, Disney has set the table for a spunky follow-up featuring Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde.

Image: Disney Fandom
Disney has already shown its hand with the Zootopia franchise by introducing multiple themed lands.
The company wouldn’t do that unless it was confident that big things were in store for the Zootopia brand.
Avatar: Fire and Ash – December 19th, 2025
There’s not really much to say about the final Disney release of 2025.
We should all be shocked if Avatar: Fire and Ash is anything other than a mega-blockbuster.
At this moment, it’s the leader in the clubhouse to be the number one film of 2025.
Director James Cameron has created three of the top four box office hits of all time, and two are Avatar titles.

Photo: Getty
I suspect we’ll see a falloff from Avatar: The Way of Water, but that’s mainly because I never expect any film to make $2 billion, a feat Avatar 2 accomplished.
Still, this film does have an epic selling point. The villains are evil fire Na’vi.
People WILL want to watch that.
Overall, Disney appears to have a very strong lineup featuring more wide releases than during 2024.

However, some of them, like Snow White, Elio, and Brave New World, also have some concerns.
