UPDATE: Haunted Mansion Holiday WILL Return This Halloween Season.
And the crowd goes…mild.
Haunted Mansion Holiday
We know–Disneyland Park is lucky to get The Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Mansion Holiday overlay; however, fans of the traditional version don’t particularly like the overlay’s prolonged tenure. And, despite Disneyland revealing earlier today that Haunted Mansion Holiday would only be available during Christmas time, it seems the overlay will have another long run this year.
Haunted Mansion Holiday’s Return
Classic Haunted Mansion fans rejoiced at the news that Disneyland’s traditional version would be running during Halloween Time this year. It’s been a spooky amount of time since fans have gotten the classic ride experience during the Halloween season, so this update on the Disneyland Resort website felt like a gift:

But are you ready for a chill to run down your spine? (If not, get prepared.) The previous opening date listed on the Haunted Mansion Holiday page–November 14th, 2025– was incorrect. Haunted Mansion Holiday will return for the start of the Halloween season on August 22nd, 2025. Here’s the update on the overlay’s webpage:

If anything, we hope the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the traditional Haunted Mansion being open for Halloween (or so we thought), may have Disney reconsidering the overlay’s runtime in the future. (Hey–we can dream…right?)
Traditional Haunted Mansion’s Return
It’s been a while since Disneyland guests have been able to ride the traditional version, as the holiday overlay was what reopened following the attraction’s long refurbishment project that took up a large chunk of 2024. But don’t worry, you’ll still get a chance to ride a doom buggy around the classic version this year, as it returns to the park on January 18th!
