Tiger Tuesdays: Baby Bakso Continues to Get Ready For His Animal Kingdom Debut
If you have been reading along here at MickeyBlog, you know that we have been closely following the journey of baby Bakso, the young Sumatran tiger at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Every Tuesday, the animal care experts at Disney’s Animal Kingdom give fans a behind-the-scenes look at Bakso and his mother, Sohni, as they prepare for their debut on the Maharajah Jungle Trek.

Over the first five Tiger Tuesdays, we followed Bakso through his checkups, as he was introduced to scent enrichment, and ate his first solid meal (a meatball!). The last time we checked, Bakso got to explore the yard outside of his backstage habitat, where he can practice jumping from logs, rolling in grass, and improving his bounce.
Tiger Tuesdays: Episode 7
After a brief break for the holidays, Disney returned with another Tiger Tuesday this week!
Over the past couple of weeks, Bakso has continued to explore his backstage environment and has begun eating, and I quote, “a lot more.”

Now, just over three months old, Bakso has entered an essential stage of his development. As he continues to explore and grow more confident, the Sumatran tiger cub also continues to rely on his mother for reassurance.
According to Dr. Mark Penning, Bakso will soon learn how to swim, which will be a crucial milestone in his journey.
