Disney World Specialty License Plates Surge in Popularity
Over the last fifty-plus years, Walt Disney World has become synonymous with the state of Florida.
When traveling through the Orlando area, Disney’s impact and importance to the region are self-evident. In fact, many would argue that Florida’s economy is built on the shoulders of Disney and the tourism industry that the company fuels.
In addition to boosting the economy, Walt Disney World has also enticed hundreds of fans to relocate to Florida to be closer to the magic.

Disney Speciality License Plates Crack the Top Ten
According to a new report from the Orlando Sentinel, Walt Disney World specialty license plates are now among the top ten most popular designs in Florida.
While that may not sound surprising, it is actually somewhat astounding.
The first Disney specialty plates were released in 2021 to coincide with Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary. Since then, nearly 50,000 people have opted for the plates, landing the design inside the state’s top ten.
As of January 1, 2025, Walt Disney World has 49,152 registered plates, besting the U.S. Marine Corps and entering the top ten.
Helping Make-A-Wish
Across the state, there are 2,209,135 specialty plates spanning 175 different designs. Drivers pay an extra $25 fee for the specialty plate, which is then donated to a nonprofit organization.
The registration fee for the Disney plates goes to Make-A-Wish Central and Northern Florida. Last year, Disney announced that it had raised more than $3 million for the organization.
Other Popular Plates
The most popular specialty plates in Florida continue to be the Endless Summer surfing plate, the sea turtle plate, and the University of Florida plate.
