THREE Walt Disney World Attractions Close For Refurbishment as the Holiday Season Comes to an End
As the holiday season comes to an end at Walt Disney World, numerous attractions across the resort have closed for refurbishment.
The headliner is Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which is expected to remain shuttered until 2026.
While Disney has yet to give details on the extended refurbishment, the prevailing hope is that Disney World’s Thunder Mountain will finally get the dynamite finale that is present in other versions of the attraction.
Yesterday, fans flocked to Thunder Mountain to take one last adventure aboard the wildest ride in the wilderness before the attraction closed.
Kali River Rapids Closes
Joining Thunder Mountain on the refurbishment list is Animal Kingdom’s Kali River Rapids.
The white-water rafting ride traditionally closes in early January for its yearly refurbishment. With lighter crowds and cooler weather in the forecast, this closure makes sense.

Kali River Rapids
According to the attraction’s website, Kali River Rapids will reopen in March, just in time for the spring break crowds.
Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros Refurbishment
Finally, also closing until March is the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros.
The EPCOT boat ride will not operate during the upcoming Festival of the Arts but is expected to reopen on March 15, 2025. Currently, there are no details on what the refurbishment will entail.
Know Before You Go
So, if you plan to visit Walt Disney World over the next few months, be forewarned. While you can capitalize on thin crowds and shorter lines, some attractions will be closed.
