Despite Previous Update, Magic Kingdom’s Tortuga Tavern Remains CLOSED
Late last week, we brought you the exciting news that Tortuga Tavern was set to reopen at the Magic Kingdom for the first time in months.
As a quick recap, the Adventureland eatery initially closed on June 14, 2024, amid rumors that the building would be repurposed into the long-awaited Pirates of the Caribbean lounge.
Subsequently, however, the Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, located across the walkway, was closed for refurbishment. Tortuga Tavern was hastily repurposed into a gift shop, eventually reopening as Tortuga Treasures.

Here, guests could get their Pirates of the Caribbean merchandise while work continued on the Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar.
Disney Updates Tortuga Tavern’s Hours
Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar reopened in November, and the Tortuga Tavern name returned. Nevertheless, the restaurant remained closed.

While Tortuga Tavern’s future was seemingly in doubt, last week, the restaurant’s official website was updated to show that the restaurant was scheduled to reopen on New Year’s Day. Needless to say, fans of the location were excited.

The Restaurant Remains Closed
Unfortunately, the update hours appear to have been incorrect. Yesterday, Tortuga Tavern remained shuttered, and the website has now been updated to show that it will remain closed for the foreseeable future.

Although Disney has yet to make an official announcement regarding the future of Tortuga Tavern, the fact that the restaurant remained closed during the busy holiday season indicates that it will not reopen.

For now, however, we will have to wait and see.
