VIDEO: How Puppeteers Bring Te Kā to Life For the Disney Treasure’s ‘Disney The Tale of Moana’
If you have been reading along here at MickeyBlog, you know that we are enamored with the Disney Treasure.
The newest addition to the Disney Cruise Line Fleet, the Treasure was inspired by the classic Disney tales of adventure. When the ship officially set sail on December 21, passengers were quickly enamored with the immersive environments, relaxing recreation opportunities, and world-class cuisine.
Of all the new experiences to debut aboard the Disney Treasure, the most impressive is perhaps Disney The Tale of Moana.
A Breathtaking Broadway-Style Show
Disney The Tale of Moana is a Broadway-style retelling of Disney’s Moana performed in the Walt Disney Theater. Narrated by Moana’s Gramma Tala, the show uses Broadway performers, impressive puppetry, and awe-inspiring sets to tell the story of Moana. It even features “Warrior Face,” a deleted song from the 2016 film!
While the entire performance of Disney The Tale of Moana is exhilarating, the breathtaking Te Kā puppet steals the show.
If you have seen a video of the Te Kā puppet online or perhaps were lucky enough to see Disney The Tale of Moana in person, you have surely wondered how the puppet works.
Today, Disney Live Entertainment shared a behind-the-scenes video showing how performers bring Te Kā to life!
In the clip, puppet specialist James R. Duncan pulls the curtain back on Disney The Tale of Moana and explains how the Te Kā works! If you haven’t seen it yet, check it out now!
