To Infinity and Beyond! Tim Allen Talks ‘Toy Story 5’
When Disney announced Toy Story 5 this past year, fans of all ages celebrated the return of Woody, Buzz, and all the rest.

After all, it’s not every day that you get to catch up with your favorite childhood characters!
And with Toy Story celebrating its 30th anniversary this coming year, it’s the perfect time to start gearing up for the gang’s next adventure.

Of course, we’re not the only ones preparing for Toy Story 5‘s highly-anticipated 2026 release.
The cast – which includes Oscar-winner Tom Hanks and Disney Legend Tim Allen – is already hard at work bringing the franchise’s next installment to life.

Tim Allen Talks ‘Toy Story 5’
Tim Allen is certainly no stranger to Disney storytelling.

The mega-star has not only voiced Buzz Lightyear in each of the previous Toy Story installments, but he also famously appeared as Scott Calvin in The Santa Clause (1994), The Santa Clause 2 (2002), The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006), and even in the recent Disney+ series The Santa Clauses (2022-2023).

Now, the fan-favorite actor (whose new series Shifting Gears will debut on ABC and Hulu next week) is stepping back into the recording booth to reprise his role as Buzz Lightyear for Toy Story 5.

“I just did the first five-hour session for Buzz, probably a week ago,” Allen told Collider. “It’s really, really weird to get back in it.”
While we already know that the next film will include “an army of Buzz Lightyears,” Allen (unsurprisingly) noted, “I can’t tell you anything.”

The actor went on to add “It’s a very, very clever story. Do you wanna do five of these? I don’t really believe it’s about the money. I’m sure they want it to be a success, but that’s not why they did it. Had they not come up with a brilliant script, they wouldn’t have done it and they wouldn’t have called me and Tom [Hanks].”
