Manny Jacinto Reveals How Many Seasons of ‘The Acolyte’ Were Planned Before the Show’s Cancellation
Before the cancellation of The Acolyte at the end of its first season, series creator Leslye Headland frequently teased that she had already outlined ideas for a potential Season 2 of the series.
As Disney initially ordered a single season of the series, Headland made sure to wrap up the show’s main mysteries by the end of the season. Still, the show’s creative staff clearly laid the foundation for more stories.

Among the loose ends left untied by the cancellation of The Acolyte were Qumir’s relationship with Osha, Mae’s ability to recall her past, and the role that Darth Plagueis and Yoda played in the events of the first season.
Manny Jacinto Talks ‘The Acolyte’ Season 2
In a recent panel at Fan Expo moderated by Collider’s Maggie Lovitt, The Acolyte star Manny Jacinto, who played Qimir/The Stranger in the series, revealed how far ahead Headland planned.
“I remember Leslye’s dream was for us to do three seasons, not just this one… But there’s something about having a finite ending to things that makes it so much more special. So, yeah, I don’t know if I’d do it or not, but you know, three seasons and a movie would have been incredible, and I know we had so much more to explore with that second season.”

As previously noted, the final episode of The Acolyte teased the looming presence of Darth Plagueis. According to Jacinto, the Sith would have “definitely” played a part in Season 2 if the series had been renewed.
Could the Story Continue?
While it seems unlikely that we will ever get more episodes of The Acolyte, the show’s characters could have their story continue in other mediums. Already, we have seen Lucasfilm continue to explore the era of The High Republic in novels and comic books.

Perhaps then, Headland will get a chance to finish her story, even if it is not in the medium she originally intended.
