The Swiss Family Treehouse Reopens at Magic Kingdom Covered in Scrim and Scaffolding
With heavy crowds and long lines at the Magic Kingdom today, Disney is doing everything it can to increase capacity and spread the masses out.
To that end, the Swiss Family Treehouse reopened today after a five-week refurbishment. By the look of things, however, the attraction was not ready.
Here is the latest.
The Swiss Family Treehouse Reopens
Guests visiting Adventureland today were greeted by the welcome sight of an open Swiss Family Treehouse.

The Swiss Family Treehouse is open, but covered in scrim.
While the attraction is operational and guests can climb high above Adventureland again, much of the tree remains covered in scrim. Here is another look.
The attraction’s iconic water wheel is also covered. The wheel has not worked in recent years.
Further into the treehouse, many of the Robinson family’s rooms remained covered in scrim.
The living quarters are also blocked off to guests.
The Decision to Reopen Appears Rushed
While it is great to see Disney showing some love to the Swiss Family Treehouse, the attraction was clearly not ready to reopen.
It looks like Imagineers may have missed the reopening deadline, but park operations decided they needed the additional capacity.
So, if you plan on visiting Magic Kingdom in the next couple of days, be forewarned. You can visit the Swiss Family Treehouse, but it hasn’t exactly reopened in all its glory.
