What Will Disney Be Like in May 2025?
The Walt Disney Company has announced the dates for its oldest festival.
That’s great news for EPCOT fans, as you’ve got even more reason to visit the park next spring.
What will Disney be like in May 2025? The answers are sunny and fun!
About May Visits to Disney World

Everyone has a favorite time to visit Walt Disney World.
Personally, I target three times of the year as a rule. Those are January, late October/early November, and May.
So, let’s talk about May for a moment. What do I love about it?
Well, there’s one thing that towers above the rest. I’m an evangelist for the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.

Disney started this tradition in the 1990s, and the 2025 version signifies the 30th Flower & Garden Festival. It’s a big deal.
You can expect Disney to make this festival the most memorable to date.

We also know that the festival will operate on every day in May, giving you ample time to experience the event.
I’ll discuss the Flower & Garden Festival more in a moment, but let’s not forget why Disney hosts it now.
May signifies the second half of Spring, a time when the weather grows warmer and more Disney-like.
While May vacations aren’t ideal for families with school-aged children, they’re great for everyone else for that reason.
May crowds are typically among the smallest of the year, which makes this timeframe a haven for singles and couples.
The crowds arrive in early June, but they’re also there during Spring Break and Easter.
So, May functions as the calm between the storms. It’s an ideal time to experience the parks.
You can do more while spending less time standing in long lines. Seriously, May is phenomenal for Disney visits!
How’s the Weather in May?
You know what they say about April showers bringing May flowers. Well, that’s very much on brand at EPCOT.
After all, the rainy water helps Disney to host the best possible EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival each year.

Still, you need to know a few things about the weather, some of which are fairly obvious.
For starters, the temperature will gradually increase throughout the month.

By the end of May, Central Florida de facto enters the summer season.
In fact, guests typically view Memorial Day Weekend as the start of summer at North American theme parks.
The weather bears this out, as the average daily high temperature is 87 degrees.
That statement is a bit misleading, though. Toward the end of May, the average high is 89 degrees.

Meanwhile, at the start of May, it’s only 85 degrees. So, you can tell how Central Florida grows hotter in May.
The same trend applies to daily low temperatures as well. Early in May, you should expect an average low of 66 degrees.
By the end of May, that number has increased to 72 degrees as an average low.
Overall, the net average in Central Florida is a low of 69 degrees.
As you can see, it’s largely dependent on your travel dates, though.
Notably, May is historically the clearest month in Central Florida, which makes it ideal for vacations.
I say this because you can take great pictures without the fear of cloud cover ruining the shot. These won’t be gloomy images.
However, rain grows more prevalent later in the month. This behavior mirrors the warm weather.
You’re twice as likely to experience rainfall at the end of May as the beginning.
So, those of you who prefer casually warm weather and little rain should aim for early May!
What’s Fun at Disney in May?

Kermit and Miss Piggy Topiaries
I already said it, but it bears repeating. You’re going for the Flower & Garden Festival, whether you realize it or not.
Disney loads this festival with delightful distractions. The most notable of them are the architectural shrubberies.

Tinker Bell Topiary
Some geniuses carve iconic Disney characters and scenes out of bushes.
You’re looking at plants that somehow resemble Disney icons like Mickey Mouse, Belle, and Lightning McQueen.
I always mention Lightning McQueen because I think it’s uncanny how Disney can carve a tree into the shape of a shiny race car.
Those of you looking for something more “on the nose” will enjoy the Groot shrub. It’s delightful…and also very Groot!
Still, the background plant carvings represent but a small part of the festival.
You’ll also find exclusive food, beverages, and merchandise. Most of it is only available during the festival.
So, you must visit to get a chance to buy the in-demand gear.
Something else to know is that Test Track 3.0 will open at some point during the summer of 2025.

Test Track
My current understanding is that the ride will debut late in the summer, which I read as August.
Should Disney run early, you could feasibly enjoy the new ride in late May.

I would by no means count on that. It’s just a possibility.
Historically, Disney has loved to open rides during Memorial Day Weekend, though.
What’s Fun in Central Orlando in May?

Generally, I’m an ardent supporter of the Disney Bubble. So, I suggest that tourists never leave Disney during a vacation.
Well, May of 2025 is the rare exception to this advice. Something is happening that may cause you to split your plans.

Disney vs Epic Universe
During Memorial Day Weekend, Universal Epic Universe will officially open after more than five years of anticipation.
This is a seminal moment for Universal Orlando Resort, one that comes with a make-or-break kind of publicity.

Well, I don’t think you should worry about Epic Universe being a bust. How could it?
The new theme park includes full themed lands devoted to Nintendo, How to Train Your Dragon, Harry Potter, and Classic Monsters.

Obviously, admission tickets will be hard to come by during the park’s earliest days.
Still, this is legitimately a once-in-a-lifetime type of opportunity.

So, I’ll fully understand if you choose to spend half your trip at Disney World and the rest at Universal Orlando.
The one drawback with this plan is that both parks will be swarming with people.

Epic Universe is brand new and highly in demand, while it’s still Memorial Day Week at Disney World.
Still, should you talk to a MickeyTravels agent, they can probably help you find a split vacation itinerary that suits your needs.
Final Thoughts
As I mentioned, May is one of the times you’re most likely to see me at the parks. That’s not at all, though.
I’m so open about my love of May Disney vacations that I’ve persuaded many of my friends to try them, too.

In each instance, a loved one has followed up their May trip by taking another one. It’s that enjoyable!
Even Disney casuals fall in love with park visits at a time when Disney World isn’t crowded.
