WATCH: New ‘Snow White’ Trailer Gives More Backstory and Previews “Waiting on a Wish”
The next release in Disney’s long line of live-action remakes will arrive on March 21, 2025, when Snow White hits theaters.
The film, which stars Rachel Zegler, Gal Gadot, and Andrew Burnap, will be a modern retelling of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Perhaps more than any other Disney film in recent memory, Snow White has been steeped in controversy and criticism.
The Trouble Begins
Shortly after the film was announced at the 2022 D23 Expo, trouble arose when actor Peter Dinklage accused Snow White of being a “backward story” due to its depiction of dwarfism.

In response to the actor’s criticism, Disney announced it would be “reimagining the dwarfs to avoid reinforcing stereotypes from the original film.”
Suddenly, Disney found itself in a no-win situation.
The studio’s response drew backlash from fans of the original film and numerous other actors with dwarfism, who felt that Dinklage’s comments did not represent the entire community’s perspective.

Following the dwarf controversy, Rachel Zegler found herself in hot water for her comments criticizing the original animated Snow White film.
A New Trailer Has Arrived
Thankfully for Disney, the conversation around Snow White seems to have shifted away from the controversy and back to the film.
