WATCH: An Ardvaark Lesson with Animal Kingdom’s Dr. Mark
Disney’s Animal Kingdom is home to some of our favorite fictional Disney animals.

Festival of the Lion King
You can catch Simba and all his friends over at The Festival of the Lion King, go for a swim with Nemo and the gang at Finding Nemo: The Big Blue…and Beyond!, and if you’re EXTRA lucky, you might even spot Kevin out for a leisurely stroll!

But while Animal Kingdom’s cast of fictional creatures continues to grow (hello Zootopia!), it’s the park’s very REAL animal residents who truly make the park shine.
In recent months, Disney’s Animal Kingdom has debuted a new pride of lions at Kilimanjaro Safaris, celebrated the first birthday of Corra the elephant, and welcomed a NEW baby tiger who continues to charm us week after week.

But this week, Animal Kingdom’s very own Dr. Mark took to Instagram to turn our attention to another type of interesting creature.

That’s right, today we’re talking about the AARDVARK! Let’s check it out!
An Aardvark Lesson from Dr. Mark
Ever wondered what a day in the life of an aardvark looks like?

Nocturnal and generally solitary, aardvarks are rarely seen in the wild. But at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney Cast Members get an up-close and personal view of this sleepy creature’s daily habits!

Since they typically sleep through the day, aardvarks tend to eat at night. In fact, the animals eat THREE times a night, feasting on foods like coconut shells smeared with avocado.

At sunrise, it’s time for breakfast – and then off to get some beauty sleep!
