The New Disneyland Gates Are Open, But There Is a Catch
Yesterday, we brought you the exciting news that the walls had come down outside Disneyland Park, and the first bank of refurbished entry gates had been unveiled.
As a quick recap, Disneyland Resort announced earlier this year that they would be phasing out turnstiles and introducing new automated entry gates at Disneyland Park, Disney California Adventure, and Downtown Disney.
The new gates are designed to be ADA-compliant and allow ECVs, wheelchairs, and strollers to easily pass through. The new gates will also include MagicBand+ touchpoints and allow guests to scan their tickets.

Automated Turnstiles
In order to minimize the impact on guests, Disneyland has been replacing the gates in phases.
The Walls Came Down Last Week
Last week, the walls came down around the first section of gates at Disneyland, giving us a glimpse at the new entrance.
From what we could see, the turnstile-less gates were installed, complete with the promised MagicBand+ readers.
Additionally, Disney added new digital signage to the entrance.
The Entry Gates Are Open…Kind Of
While the new bank of entry gates is now open and being used, according to reporter Scott Gustin, the gates are in pre-launch mode.
This means that the MagicBand+ reader and cameras have not yet been activated.
The newly installed bank of entry gates at Disneyland Park will open tomorrow in pre-launch mode – which means Cast Members will still be scanning tickets and taking photos the same way as they do at existing gates. At this time, Cast Members working at the new entry gates are still scanning tickets and taking photos, the same way they do at the older gates.
According to Gustin, the new gates are expected to operate as planned and be fully functional by early next year.
