Magic Kingdom’s Astro Orbiter Is Closing For Refurbishment Next Year
I don’t know about you, but I still love taking a spin aboard the Magic Kingdom’s Astro Orbiter, even after all these years.
An essential part of Tomorrowland since 1975, the Astro Orbiter allows guests to take flight high above the bustling metropolis for an exhilarating spin around the plants.
While the Astro Orbiter continues to serve as the centerpiece of Rockettower Plaza and the “weenie” of Tomorrowland, in many ways, the attraction feels like it belongs in a bygone era.

The Astro Orbiter is closing for refurbishment
Because of the inefficient elevators that guests must board to reach the attraction, Astro Orbiter is not a part of the Disney Lightning Lane system. The only way to ride the attraction is through a good old-fashioned winding queue.
Nevertheless, the guests’ patience is rewarded when they finally blast off high above Tomorrowland.
Astro Orbiter Is Closing For Refurbishment
If you are planning a trip to Walt Disney World next year, I have some bad news. The Astro Orbiter is going down for a fairly lengthy refurbishment and will be closed from January 13, 2025, until the summer of 2025.

There is no word on what the refurbishment will entail at this time. However, the attraction will be closed for at least five months.
Hopefully, the planets are spinning when the Astro Orbiter reopens, and the rocketships look as good as new!
