Disney Acquires The Lionel Messi-Inspired Animated Series ‘Messi and the Giants’
ESPN is already known for being the home of sports’ biggest stars, now, however, Disney Branded Television is now getting in on the fun.
According to a new report from The Wrap, Disney has acquired Messi and the Giants, an animated sci-fi series based on soccer superstar Lionel Messi.

“Consisting of 22-minute episodes, “Messi and the Giants” will follow Leo as he tries to save the once-thriving world of Iko from the giants who rule the 10 realms. The 12-year-old boy — who is the size of a flea compared to the giants, is plucked from another world to lead the fight against the tyrannical villains who have kept the 10 realms under their control,” the show’s synopsis reads.
The Series Takes Inspiration From the Life of Lionel Messi
Drawing inspiration from Lionel Messi’s real-life journey and the hurdles he faced, the upcoming series will lean into the virtues of team building, perseverance, and exploring what it takes to become a hero.

The Series Will Debut on Disney+
Messi and the Giants is produced by Sony Music Vision and Sony Pictures Television. The series will debut on Disney Channel before heading to Disney Channel on Demand and Disney+.
