Join Us for the Grand Opening Celebration of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort’s Island Tower!
Hello from Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! Can you guess what we’re up to today? (If the title didn’t give it away.)
We’re here for the grand opening celebration of the Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows–the newest Disney Vacation Club addition. The tower promises to bring the spirit of Polynesia to life with immersive theming and storytelling. Let’s check out the celebration!
Grand Opening Celebration
Time to check in!
The immersive theming started immediately, as we were greeted with POG juice…
…and Polynesian drummers! (Talk about a warm welcome!)
They provided a “Wayfinder’s Welcome Map,” which outlines the tower’s layout.
We met Auntie and her nephew, Matt, who was a guitarist at the reception!
But those aren’t the only folks we met…we also met Moana! (Our favorite Wayfinder.)
They served a buffet of eggs, hashbrowns, teriyaki-glazed sausage…
…fruits, parfaits, pastries…
…Loco Moco and Tonga Sweet Bread Pudding!
Of course, we used every inch of space on our plate.
(We might have also gotten another plate.)
And check out the gift package they gave us for attending! We got a resort toiletry bag, artwork, a rice crispy treat, and a resort pin!
Wailulu Bar & Grill
Just when we thought our stomachs couldn’t handle any more food, they let us sample some of the items at Wailulu Bar & Grill!
Our sampler included the Beef Short Rib Loco Moco, Sweet Potato Hummus, Spiced Ham Musubi, and Hibiscus Tea.
They displayed some other menu items as well, which made us even more excited for our full review of the menu coming up on December 17th! (Stay tuned for that one!)
The location is gorgeous, pulling from the natural beauty of the islands.
The theming transports you into paradise…
…with a lava rock-inspired bar that overlooks the Seven Seas Lagoon!
Island Tower Tour
We’ve gotten our fill of music and food–it’s time to tour the tower! The tower is the newest addition to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, which honors the “legacy of our past.” To do so, they drew inspiration from past Imagineers!
The tower’s original artwork combines Wayfinding and Disney storytelling. And, speaking of storytelling, all-new tales are told here focusing on Polynesian Wayfinders and conservation.
Some familiar stories are highlighted as well, like Moana! Speaking of, check out the new splash area with a figure of Moana in her canoe! (We tried our best not to get splashed.)
The tower is massive…
…inviting you in with incredible theming.
The artwork here is amazing! Seriously, the level of detail they put into this tower is unbelievable.
Speaking of, check out this large piece…
…that has some familiar faces!
The Wave Break Terrace is absolutely breathtaking and one of our favorite features of the tower.
We could easily spend hours here…
…relaxing among the decor.
Room Tours
We’re doing full tours of the rooms (coming soon), so we’ll just highlight some of our favorite amenities in each room type. We started with the Duo Studio, which has artwork inspired by Moana and the sky! The studio accommodates 2 guests.
Our favorite amenities are the kitchenette…
…and outdoor patio!
The Deluxe Studio accommodates 4 guests and focuses on the “flora and fauna” of the islands.
The kitchenette has a dishwasher…
…and the patio is perfect for relaxation!
The 1-Bedroom Villa sleeps up to 5 guests and has water-inspired artwork.
The villa has a full kitchen, dining area, and living room.
The 2-Bedroom Villa is themed after water and earth and accommodates up to 9 guests.
The villa has a full kitchen and dining area…
…as well as three bathrooms.
The outdoor patio is large, providing gorgeous views from a spacious area. Oh–and did we mention there’s a washer and dryer?!
The 2-Bedroom Penthouse Villa honors water and earth, accommodating up to 8 guests. Needless to say, these villas are much larger than the rest of the studio/villa types.
They have the same amenities as the other villas, plus views of the Seven Seas Lagoon, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Oak Trail, and Magnolia Golf Courses.
