Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck Received Numerous Votes in New York City Judicial Elections
In a testament to his enduring popularity, Mickey Mouse was on voters’ minds last month, at least in New York City.
Having entertained audiences for generations, Mickey was one of the most popular write-in candidates in New York, even bettering Aaron Judge, former New York governor Mario Cuomo, and Bruce Wayne.

Here is the story.
Why Vote Mickey?
As many of the judicial races in New York City feature candidates who are running unopposed, creative write-in candidates are not uncommon.

“Why Aaron Judge for judge? These are protest votes,” Hank Sheinkopf, a longtime Democratic consultant, explained to the New York Post. “Voters aren’t happy that the choices are being taken away from them, and many also aren’t happy with the judges picked for them, so they take out their frustrations in ways that are humorous.”

Looking at the city’s judicial races, Mickey garnered 76 votes, while Donald Duck managed to deliver 34 write-in votes. Last November was clearly a good month for the Disney candidates.
Mickey Has Only Ever Endorsed One Candidate
While Mickey has largely avoided politics over his 100+ years in entertainment, he has endorsed political candidates before.

When Winnie the Pooh ran for President in both 1972 and 1976, Mickey publicly appeared with the silly old bear at campaign events on Main Street, U.S.A.
With Eeyore and Tigger running Pooh’s campaign, Mickey could have held a place in the Pooh administration.
