Kathryn Hahn Announced as Celebrity Narrator for Disneyland Candlelight Ceremony
The Candlelight Processional at Disneyland is truly one of the most nostalgic and moving traditions offered during the holidays, and it returns this weekend with WandaVision star Kathryn Hahn as this year’s narrator.
Hahn, known for her iconic role as Agatha Harkness and the Emmy-nominated Transparent, will share the story of the first Christmas on Saturday, Dec. 7, and Sunday, Dec. 8, with performances at 5:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.
Annual Tradition
This annual tradition dates back to 1958 and dramatically combines music and storytelling in a breathtaking celebration.
A 600-member choir, live orchestra, handbell players, and trumpeters parade down Main Street, U.S.A., creating a magical atmosphere. The event culminates at Town Square, where the choir gathers together and forms a human Christmas tree on risers.
Disney work crews set up the Candlelight stage beneath the Main Street train station and arrange hundreds of folding chairs in Town Square between Disneyland City Hall and the Opera House.
Though reserved seating is limited to VIP guests, Candlelight fans can secure standing-room-only spots near City Hall and the Opera House. (For a less crowded experience, the second performance each night is often recommended).
Past Narrators
Hahn joins a prestigious lineup of past narrators, including Brie Larson, Viola Davis, Chris Pratt, and James Earl Jones.
While Disneyland typically keeps the narrator’s identity secret until the last moment, social media leaks often spoil the surprise.
