Dick Van Dyke Celebrates his 99th Birthday With Help From Coldplay
Cold Play and DIck Van Dyke are not necessarily two celebrities you think of together! But the unlikely duo got together recently for a special celebration.
British rock band Coldplay helped Dick Van Dyke celebrate his 99th birthday! Today, a new music video was released just one week before Van Dyke’s special milestone.
Special Music Video
Spike Jones and Mary Wigmore direct the video that features Van Dyke walking out into a courtyard with Chris Martin gently sitting at a piano.
Martin then sings to Van Dyke a rendition of Coldplay’s most recent single, “All My Love.” As the video goes on, the two sing together at various points, with Van Dyke also dancing and being his silly self.
There is a seven-minute director’s cut featuring photographs of Van Dyke and his family sharing milestones of his life and legacy. According to People magazine, there is also a shorter version of the music video that is being released on Van Dyke’s actual birthday.
The result? A heartwarming love letter and unique nod to his iconic career.
Celebration
The talented actor turns 99 on December 13 and acknowledges that he is older and can pass any day, though he’s not afraid.
“I have that feeling, totally against anything intellectual, that I’m going to be all right. When you think how lucky I am, I got to do what I do, play and act silly.”
The video closes with Van Dyke joined by his family and his wife, Arlene Silver, who all embrace in a final pose for the camera.
What an amazing way to celebrate your birthday and honor an icon!
