Celebrate Walt Disney’s Birthday With These 4 Fun Facts!
Today is Walt Disney’s birthday! Happy birthday, Walt!
There are so many ways to celebrate him today–for example, Disney announced tons of offerings hitting Disneyland Resort–Walt’s original park–in celebration of 70 years! But we decided to honor his birthday by compiling a list of 4 fun facts about Walt–check them out!
He Voiced Mickey for Almost 2 Decades
Walt was the original voice of Mickey Mouse! Well, kinda–Walt was unhappy with how Mickey’s voice sounded in The Karnival Kid (Mickey’s vocal debut), so Walt decided to use his own voice moving forward.
He lent his voice to Mickey until 1947 when he became too busy to continue. (And he’d only get even busier from there on out.)
He Has the Record for Most Academy Awards and Nominations
That’s right–Walt Disney has won the most Academy Awards ever and received the most nominations. He received 26 Oscars–22 competitive awards and 4 honorary awards–and 59 Oscar nominations.
He Was a Train Buff
It may come as no surprise, but Walt was a huge train fanatic! In fact, he found trains so inspirational, that his development of Mickey Mouse began on a train.
He liked building model train sets, which snowballed into him building a steam locomotive/railroad on his property. Of course, as we know, this passion led to the railroads around the resorts!
You Can See Him Soon (Kinda)
Walt Disney will be brought to life through his first-ever Audio-Animatronic! The Audio-Animatronic is part of the new “Walt Disney – A Magical Life” show, which debuts in Disneyland Park on May 16th, 2025!
Happy Birthday, Walt! Thanks for everything.
