Dave Filoni Confirms ‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’ Has Wrapped Filming
While Star Wars: Skeleton Crew begins its story on Disney+, Lucasfilm has reached a major milestone with another Star Wars production.
According to the studio’s CCO, Dave Filoni, filming on The Mandalorian & Grogu has wrapped up.
Here is the latest.
‘The Mandalorian & Grogu’
Set to hit theaters on May 22, 2026, The Mandalorian & Grogu will be the first Star Wars feature film since 2019’s The Rise of Skywalker.
The forthcoming film, a spinoff of the popular Disney+ series The Mandalorian, will continue the story of Din Djarin and Grogu during the New Republic era.
What Filoni Had to Say
While Filoni, who serves as executive producer and co-writer on The Mandalorian & Grogu, was loathed to give away any plot details, he had nothing but good things to say about the upcoming film.
“Jon and I had a great time working on that, as we always do,” he told ExtraTV. “It was great seeing Grogu. He’s become such a star. It’s amazing how it’s evolved. What we can do now with the puppetry compared to Season 1 and where we are today in a film. Working with a team — I worked quite a bit with them on the puppetry legacy effects. They did a fantastic job, and what a wonderful little creation Grogu is.”
‘The Mandalorian’s’ Biggest Test Yet
With the success of The Mandalorian, both Din Djarin and Grogu have become Star Wars’ breakout stars in the post-Skywalker era.
Previously, however, the heroes’ journey has been confined to streaming. Now, the reserved Mandalorin and his apprentice are ready to conquer the big screen.
As Star Wars prepares to tackle the box office once again, all eyes will be on The Mandalorian & Grogu when the film hits theaters on May 22, 2026.
